It can be a challenge to live in an area where transportation options are sparse. Fortunately, you don’t have to concern yourself with this in Monroe County.
With 175 miles of roadways, residents and visitors never have a difficult time making their way throughout the area.
Some of the major roadways that run through Monroe County include: Route 33, County Route 535, County Route 614, Route 32, and of course, the New Jersey Turnpike.
Many of the age-restricted communities in Monroe County have their own transportation services, which is just another reason why elderly individuals have fallen in love with living here. You don’t need to own a car, as you can rely on the community’s transportation services to get around.

At the latest census, there were approximately 12,500 households in Monroe Township.
The median age in the township is 59 years, with nearly 44 percent of the population 65 years of age or older.
When it comes to housing options, there is no shortage. Despite the fact that prices can be higher than other parts of the country – just the same as most areas in New Jersey – the selection goes a long way in attracting people to the area.
In addition to single family homes, Monroe Township is well known for its selection of townhouses and condos. As noted above, there are multiple age-restricted communities geared toward individuals age 55 and older.
