About Leonard Furman
Len Furman has been meeting the legal and tax needs of clients in central New Jersey for more than 30 years. His firm, Levine, Furman, & Rubin, LLC, specializes in all types of estate tax planning from the routine to the sophisticated, focusing on family wealth transfers.
One of the few practitioners in New Jersey who regularly attends the University of Miami Institute on Estate Planning, Mr. Furman devotes his practice to helping clients avoid probate, protect their assets, and provide for the security of their loved ones with a well crafted estate plan.
Mr. Furman is also a frequent speaker on sophisticated estate planning and elder law topics, regularly presenting educational seminars for public and private groups as well as to CPA and legal organizations.
During his extensive career, Mr. Furman has served as the tax partner in several mid-sized CPA firms in the area. His background also includes several years as a field agent for the Internal Revenue Service. Under Mr. Furman’s guidance, Levine, Furman, & Rubin, LLC represented the first taxpayer who was victorious in the New York Tax Appeals Tribunal regarding the newly emerging domicile issue.
Mr. Furman, a certified public accountant as well as an attorney, is a member of the New York and New Jersey State Bar Associations, the Middlesex County Bar Association, where he has served as the chairman of the probate and trust law committee, and the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys. He is admitted to practice before all courts in the states of New York and New Jersey as well as the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Furman did his undergraduate work in accounting at the Baruch College of the City University of New York, graduating with a bachelor’s in business administration in 1963. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Brooklyn School of Law in 1966.
Mr. Furman is the father of two grown children. He is a member of the East Brunswick Chamber of Commerce; his hobbies include reading, going to the theatre and visiting museums.
